It will take 12 hours for us to drive from New York to Tennessee. So to break up the journey we have planned a little stop along the way. At the 6.5 hour mark is seemingly good spot called Harrisonburg, Virginia.

It will take 12 hours for us to drive from New York to Tennessee. So to break up the journey we have planned a little stop along the way. At the 6.5 hour mark is seemingly good spot called Harrisonburg, Virginia. It's a town right off of I-81 and with a little research is proving to be a good destination all by itself! We will see if it lives up to the 'googling'. I will post a follow up after all is said and done!
A friend of mine suggested I use tripadvisor.com to find the best places to stay or eat because she has had nothing but success with it. I took her advice in finding a place to rest our heads. Ranked 4.5 out of 5 and with nothing but really good reviews i booked it at priceline. Here is the website: http://www.thevillageinn.travel/
The Village Inn has a nice little swimming pool and parking right outside of the rooms

So it's the fourth of July when we arrive in Harrisonburg, and after visiting their official website http://www.visitharrisonburgva.com/ I found out that they are having a wonderful event in the center of town called Valley Fourth. We will definitely be checking that out. It seemed to have a bbq contest and fireworks at night. That's the best way to spend the 4th of July I think!!
