MiniGame Tips

Hey, this is Blue Requiem. I’ve decided to add a MiniGame Tips section to the website, to help you get farther in some of your favorite games. This section includes every MiniGame currently available in ClubPenguin, and at least 1 hint, tip, or secret to go along with it to help you get farther in the games you most enjoy.

~~Multi-Player~~

Find Four:

-Info: In the Ski Lodge and the Lodge Attic you can play this game with a friend. To win, stack four pieces in a row diagonally, vertically, or straight across. Alternate turns with your opponent.

-Tip: Try to get 4 diagonally. It’s much harder for your opponent to notice where you’re trying to get your 4 if you’re doing it diagonally. You can also try trapping your opponent in a position where you’ll always win, no matter what move he makes, by having a way to get 4 in two different places. You’ll win no matter what.

.

Hockey:

-Info: This team sport is located at the Super Rink by the Snow Forts. The puck is moved around the ice when the first player to reach the puck moves in the direction they want the puck to go. Ice Hockey is a great way to have fun with friends—no coins are awarded in this game.

-Tip: Instead of clicking the puck, click right in front of the puck running in the direction you want it to go. The puck will slide much farther and your aim will be much more accurate.

Mancala:

-Info: Play this game with a friend when you go to the Book Room located above the Coffee Shop. Alternate turns with your opponent; the game ends when a player has no more stones in his/her side of the board. The player with the greatest number of stones in his/her Mancala is the winner. Click on the Mancala poster at the back of the Book Room to read more instructions on how to play.

-Tip: Make a move that will maximize the number of stones going into your Mancala (“Store”). This can be quite an effective strategy because when stones go into your Mancala they cannot be taken out again with subsequent moves. Also, of course, the object of the game is to have more stones in your Mancala than your opponent, and this “direct deposit” method works toward that goal.

Choose a move that will allow you to take another move. That is, have the last stone in the move lands in your own Mancala. This strategy allows you to add stones to your Mancala on more than one go, but this may not be the best strategy if it will empty your side of the board too quickly (thus allowing your opponent to score all of the stones on his side of the board).

Make “defensive” plays. That is, if the opposing player has empty pits on his side and, thus, has the chance of capturing stones on his move, make a move on your turn that prevents your pieces from being captured by moving stones into the opponent’s empty pit. This strategy might not be the best move in terms of maximizing stones going into your own Mancala, but it can stop your opponent from capturing stones (which helps towards winning in the long run).

Capture

Set up a capturing move for your next turn. You can empty a pit where the opponent’s opposite pit is not empty and where you have a pit before it that, if chosen on next turn, the last stone from it will land in that empty pit you created on the previous turn. This will allow you to make the capture and collect all of those stones.

Sled Racing:

-Info: This multi-player game is one of Club Penguin’s most popular pastimes. Join a race when you go to the Ski Hill. Choose a run; the race begins when each sled seat is filled. Use your arrow keys to move your sled and avoid obstacles.

-Tip: Memorize the positions of all the Ice Patches, the log ramps, and the rocks. That’s basically the only way to win. Train your reflexes to move quickly when an obstacle is ahead, or when an Ice Patch is near. Ice Patches speed you up a great deal, so they can easily put you ahead of the pack. However, some Ice Patches, like the 1st one in the Ridge Run course, will actually speed you straight into a log, if you aren’t quick enough to move out of the way.

~~Single Player~~

Astro Barrier:

-Info: This arcade game is located in the Lounge above the Night Club. Use arrow and spacebar keys to shoot moving targets. There are over 30 levels. Coins are awarded for points earned.

-Tips: Try and shoot the targets higher up first. The ones farther away from you. If you shoot the bottom ones first you could end up blocking the higher ones! Then you’d have to restart the level. Remember, higher ones first, and work your way down.

When you’ve gotten far enough in the game to get to the point where it shows you how to use Orange Switches, actually shoot the Orange Switch in the little tutorial. Wait 30 seconds and a Blue Ship will appear. Shoot it, and you’ll unlock the Secret Levels!

When you’ve gotten far enough in the game to get to the point where it shows you how to use Turrets, actually shoot the target using the Turret. (Don’t Destroy the Turret!!!!) Wait for about 30 seconds and another Blue Ship will appear. Shoot it with the Turret and you’ll unlock the Master Levels!

.

Hydro Hopper:

-Info: Go to the speedboat at the Dock to go for a ride. Tubing behind a boat is always fun but watch out for debris in the water. Use your mouse to navigate.

-Tips: You can move while airbourne. Take advantage of that and move around while in the air to leap over multiple obstacles in 1 jump! Thus more points for you! (Note: The Wakeboards can stay in the air much longer after jumping, so it is recommended that you buy one to use in the game!)

.

.

.

Bean Counters:

-Info: Go to the Coffee Shop and click the bag of coffee with the word Java written on it to play. Earn coins for catching and stacking bags of coffee as they fly out of the delivery truck. There are five delivery trucks—unload them all and earn bonus coins. Read the instructions before playing for more information.

-Tips: All the obstacles thrown at you are thrown in the same places. Remember which place they’ll fall and try to avoid that place when the object is thrown. (Note: You can still unload sacks even after the level is finished! Unload your extra sacks once the level is finished while you have the chance.)

Cart Surfer:

-Info: Located in the Mine at the Underground, in Cart Surfer you will speed along a mine track in a cart. Earn points for tricks; use keyboard arrows and spacebar to discover trick combinations. Cart Surfer is a single-player game. It’s great to play when you want to earn a lot of coins in a short amount of time.

-Tips: Remember the different arrow key sequences, and find a move that you can use to maximize your points. And remember, pay attention to the Arrow Signs on the walls of the mine shaft, once you’ve passed 3 arrow signs it’s time to stop doing tricks and to start turning!

.

.

.

Catchin’ Waves:

-Info: Want to go surfing? Head to the Cove and click on the Surf Hut. Choose a surf mode: Surf Lesson, Freestyle, Competition, or Survival mode. Earn points for tricks and jumps.

For a different surfing experience, surfboard upgrades are available for members in the Sport Shop catalog. Upgraded surfboards are added to your inventory after purchase.

-Tips: Remember to move your cursor up and down to increase speed, that way you aren’t sucked into the wave! Find the best key sequence for you, to find the tricks that can maximize your point total!

Did you know there are certain tricks only the Silver Surfboard can perform??? Visit our Secrets section to learn how to get the Silver Surfboard and use it next time you’re playing the game! You’ll be surprised at the results.

Do you have a Red Puffle? If so, take it for a walk and play the Catchin’ Waves Minigame! You’ll be surprised to find that your Red Puffle will surf with you! It’s pretty cool.

.

.

.

Ice Fishing:

-Info: Go out the back door of the Ski Lodge located in the Ski Village. Drop your line in the water and when you catch a fish pull it above the hole and click. Every fish caught equals one coin. If you catch the BIG fish, you earn bonus coins. Use your mouse to move your line above and below the water.

-Tips: If there’s a fish passing right underneath a shark, it’s ok to drop your line down and get the fish, because the shark will only affect you if your line comes near his mouth, his belly and tail don’t count.

Want to catch that Big Fish? Wait until you see his shadow in the water, then wait for a small fish to come. Hook it, and keep it on your line. Don’t add it to your bucket. Keep it on your line until the Big Fish comes, once he’s there, drop the Fishing line down with the fish you saved earlier still on the hook. The Big Fish will notice your bait and eat it! You get a big coin bonus for catching the Big Fish.

.

.

.

Jetpack Adventure:

-Info: Strap on a jet pack and fly when you go to the Beacon located at the Lighthouse. Collect coins as you fly and watch out for obstacles. Use your mouse to navigate through each level. Look for extra fuel cans and jet packs—you need them to complete the game.

-Tips: If you’re low on energy lower yourself slowly, even if it sacrifices coins, it saves fuel, meaning you can complete the level. Remember, too, that remaining fuel adds to your coin bonus! So sacrificing coins to save fuel will help in the long run.

.

.

.

Pizzatron 3000:

-Info: Go to the Pizza Parlor and click on the beaded doorway to become a pizza chef. Use your mouse to drag and drop the toppings that show up on the order screen. Get paid coins for every correct pizza you make.

-Tips: There’s a lever at the Start screen right underneath the conveyor belt allowing you to switch between dessert and pizza items! Give it a try!

Use the Ingredients closest to you first. If you have a Pizza with Hot Sauce, Seaweed and Cheese, use the ingredient closest to the Pizza first, for example, if the Pizza was close to the Cheese, even though it’s the 3rd item on the recipe, use it first since it’s closest to your Pizza. Your mouse will travel a shorter distance meaning you’ll be adding all the ingredients at a quicker pace.

.

.

.

Puffle Roundup:

-Info: Help round up puffles, Club Penguin’s favorite pets when you play this game. Click on the Employees Only door in the Pet Shop and use your mouse to herd puffles into the fenced area. A round ends when all the puffles are herded into the pen or have run away. Coins are awarded based on the number of puffles you catch in the shortest amount of time.

-Tips: Just move your mouse carefully. Make sure you always drive them away from the forest, that way they don’t escape. The key to this game is being careful but quick when herding the Puffles. Practice. Practice. Practice.

Thin Ice:

-Info:

Play this arcade game in the Lounge, located on the second floor of the Night Club. Use your arrow keys to guide the puffle through each maze and melt tiles. Earn coins for every tile melted. Read instructions available at the game for more information.

-Tips: It helps to plan out the path you’re going to take before you actually take it, that way you’ll fail the level less often. If you really can’t figure out a way to cover all the Ice Tiles then get as many as you can before completing the stage. Try and get as much coins out of each level as possible.
